Medically, healing is associated with a state of disease, illness or sickness of the body. It is a clinical intervention to treat, cure or prevent a disease condition. However, healing is not restricted to illness alone, but could be applicable to inanimate objects too. For instance, the scenario that played out in the book of 2 Kings chapter 2 paints a vivid picture of another dimension of healing. The situation of Jericho was a paradox because the city was adjudged pleasant, despite a double tragedy - the water was bad and the ground was barren. It means the nation was in trouble but hope was not lost- help was on the way!
“And he said, ‘Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.’ So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there and said, ‘Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water, from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.” (2 Kings 2:19-22). The water represents life while the ground symbolizes productivity. Nobody can survive in life without water, plants also need it for existence. All productive activities take place on the ground, where crops also grow. The water at Jericho was bitter and its ground was barren! Beloved, no matter what the situation you are passing through looks like, expect divine intervention. I mean God is stepping in to bring the needed healing in your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The Lord will give you an all-round peace concerning that matter. Listen to the word of God spoken through Prophet Jeremiah: “Behold, I will bring it health and healing, I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth” (Jeremiah 33:6). Our dear nation Nigeria needs God’s healing from every form of political, social, economic, religious, and security upheaval. As citizens of this great country, we all have roles to play in the healing process of Nigeria. The Bible says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). Are you righteous in your dealings? Nigeria can be healed and rise again to truly become the giant of Africa and a force to be reckoned with in the world.
The healing of a nation begins with every individual citizen of that country. Let the healing begin with you! Divine healing is for those who have surrendered their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Today is the day of your salvation and healing, as you yield your heart to Him. SHALOM
