In the world of Physics, the formation of a shadow is credited to a phenomenon called rectilinear propagation of light. In a simple term, shadows are created when an object, animal or person blocks out a portion of a light source. In other words, it requires a person or a thing standing in the path of light for his or its shadow to be formed.
God’s shadow depicts the secret place or His arena of manifestation and demonstration of His presence and power. One of the attributes of God is being Omnipresent – He is always present, everywhere, and at every time. Therefore, the shadow of the Almighty God is a divine cover anywhere it is present. *“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”* (Ps. 91:1). Abiding under the shadow of God is a function of meeting certain requirements: clean hands and a pure heart. As a child of God, you must have clean hands in your dealings, and you must have a pure heart in your relationship with God. The truth is that God’s standard of righteousness and holiness cannot be broken by anyone, who desires to be in His presence or abide under His shadow! The major line of separation between humanity and divinity is sin. Prophet Isaiah put it this way: *“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but your iniquities have separated you and your God ...”* (Isa.59:1-2). What happens when you come under the shadow of God? You have divine safety and security. You cannot abide in the presence of the Lord of host, and be vanquished by the attack of principalities and powers. God’s presence makes a whole lot of difference in the lives of the believers. David acknowledged this fact when he said: *“Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadows of thy wings, from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about”* (Ps. 17:8-9). I pity people who think they can run away from their household witchcraft powers. Some people travel out of their home town, state or even country; believing that they will be secure. Friend, let me tell you that the only sure protection from, and solution to the incessant attacks of the enemy is abiding under God’s shadow. No doubt, we live in a wicked world; but God’s presence is the only guarantee to a life of peace and rest of mind. Stay under His shadow!
Beloved, do not be like a disobedient chick which did not heed the warning of its mother to stay under the covering of its feather, and became a prey to the hawk. Acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ, come and abide under God’s shadow today and always. Happy new month. *PEACE*
