Strength for Speed

In the world of sports, strength is generally required for good and optimum performance. For instance; an athlete, running a race, must be strong enough and run at a particular speed in order to outrun his/her colleagues. Likewise, in the spiritual arena, divine strength is needed to do exploits in all that pertains to life and godliness. When the Bible says by strength shall no man prevail, it means nobody can be victorious by his physical strength, until he is backed by supernatural strength.

The word of the Lord came to Zerubbabel: *“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit”* (Zechariah 4:6). The Holy Spirit is the source of strength as He energizes and strengthens a believer to attain unimaginable heights and break the glass ceiling. How does He achieve that? The Holy Spirit gives the power and sustains a person to accomplish any given task, assignment or project. He is the best teacher and counsellor, who also guides in the journey of life. When the physical strength fails, the Holy Spirit supplies strength to the inner man. David acknowledged this fact when he said *“For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall”* (Psalms 18:29). A troop is a group of soldiers, and running against a troop can never be done by physical strength; one must run at a supersonic speed. In addition to the Holy Spirit who strengthens, the word of God also provides the standpoint for strength and encouragement for accomplishment. The word of God is the spiritual food that every Christian must consume on a daily basis; for growth, vitality and strength! How regularly do you feed and feast on God’s word? Elijah was fed with this spiritual nourishment and he was sustained by its strength and power for a very long time. *“… Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you, so he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights …”* (1Kings 19:7-8). Beloved, how far you will go in life is not dependent on your stamina; but on the divine strength, which produces supernatural speed.

Friend, if you want to walk victoriously against the difficulties and challenges of life; you need God who supplies the needed strength. Surrender your life to Him today and begin to run at the speed of His strength. Welcome to the month of your supernatural strength and speed. Happy New Month. God bless you richly. *SHALOM*
