Spiritual battles are not fought with physical weapons or muscular power. They are fought by absolute faith, confidence and trust in God. The nature of the Christian armoury is described in 2Corinthians 10:4 *“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”* Anything that prevents you from having progress, success, promotion, good health, etc. constitutes a stronghold. Therefore, it requires spiritual caterpillar to pull down such stronghold.
Apostle Paul admonished the church at Ephesus to put on the whole armour of God to be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Eph. 6:11). Faith is a major and fourth component in the list of weapons of warfare in the spiritual armoury. The fact is that the devil and his cohorts regularly and constantly throw missiles and arrows. The function of faith is to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Unfortunately, some believers only confess Christ with their mouth; they don’t really have faith needed to win the battles of life. Faith is not a matter of being born as a Christian or having stayed in the church for a long time. It is about knowing God and relating with Him on a personal basis. Despite divers of miracles the disciples of Jesus Christ saw Him do, yet they could not cast out demons at a particular time. Jesus told them that they were unable to cast out demons because of their unbelief. He then explained to them that the faith they needed was just like the size of a mustard seed. Small faith can do the extraordinary and unimaginable! *“For verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”* (Matt. 17:20). Apart from growing in grace, you must also grow in faith. As you daily walk with God, your faith level and frequency must be increasing. Don’t be a spiritual dwarf, be a giant in faith. Remember that David was a young boy of small stature; but he slew the giant. By his faith in God, one of the five stones he took did the wonder of conquering Goliath of Gath.
Friend, I encourage you to grow up your faith in God by recounting all His interventions in your life and other people’s lives. Read and meditate on the word of God for your faith to grow continually. Apply faith by speaking to every challenge or difficulty that comes your way. Don’t forget the faith that conquers is not necessarily as big as a mountain. Faith works wonders! *PEACE*
