Don't Worry

Life generally is full of challenges (Job 14:1). These challenges range from getting a decent and lucrative job, giving your kids good education, having enough money to cater for you and your family, health challenges, marriage issues, etc. It is worthy to note that Christians are even not immune to these challenges.

The Bible consistently reminds us that living in this present world will not be a bed of roses. Even roses are not without thorns. *“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivered him out of them all”* (Ps. 34:19). Unfortunately, worry seems to be the natural response of many people to life challenges. Some even get anxious at a perceived problem or challenge, they worry about imaginary situation. Problems are inevitable in this life, but you have absolutely nothing to worry about as a child of God. Worry and anxiety are not solutions to any life problem! In fact, worry makes you see problem where there may be none or makes your challenge look bigger than it really is. In order words, worry makes a mountain out of a mole hill. When you worry, you create more problems for yourself rather than seeking solutions. Your mind is troubled and heart is broken when you yield yourself to worrying about the affairs of this world. In addition, the venom of worry can make one perpetually sick (physically, emotionally and psychologically) and eventually send him or her to early grave. Findings have revealed that worry causes over 100 ailments and diseases. A physician says that about 70 percent of all medical patients can be cured if they get rid of their worries and fears. Worry saps you of your physical energy and robs you of your spiritual strength. Above all, it destroys your life and steals your joy. As a child of God, problems, challenges, afflictions, trials and vicissitudes of life cannot crush you, but worry can. Jesus Christ admonished Christians not to be anxious of what to eat, drink, wear or about the unknown future (Matt. 6:25-34). He said such worries are associated with the gentiles.

Finally, you do not need to be perturbed because God has promised to take care of you (1Pet. 5:7). He will not disappoint nor forsake you. Even in the midst of harsh economic condition of the world, He will sustain you. He will also succour you in times of trouble and give you courage to overcome every difficulty. For the rest of the journey of the year, bring your burdens to the Lord and leave them at His feet on Calvary. He will surely take care of them all. Just trust Him! *PEACE*
