A Renewed Mind

Spiritual transformation begins in our minds. Our thoughts shape our attitudes, decisions, and ultimately our walk with God. Romans 12:2 exhorts us, *"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."*

This call to renewal reminds us that true change starts from within. When we allow God’s Word to reframe our thinking, we begin to see life through His perspective – a perspective filled with hope, truth, and love. A renewed mind is one that seeks after what is true and good. We are instructed in Philippians 4:8, *"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things."* By focusing on these qualities, negative thoughts lose their power over us, equipping us to face daily challenges with renewed strength. In our Nigerian context, where everyday pressures can be overwhelming – whether it is work stress, family responsibilities, or societal challenges – anchoring our thoughts on God’s promises brings clarity and peace. Practical steps to renew your mind include setting aside quiet moments each day to meditate on God's Word and reflect on your lifestyle. Remember the admonition of Joshua 1:8 *"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it."* Let this be your guide as you navigate the pressures of life. Establishing a routine of daily Bible study and prayer is essential. This assurance encourages us to persist in our spiritual journey, no matter how tough the circumstances. Renewing your mind is a process – a journey that requires intentional effort and accountability on a daily basis. By meditating on the scripture, we replace despair with hope, bitterness with gratitude, and fear with faith. Over time, this transformation enables us to make choices that honour God and reflect His love.

In addition, surround yourself with a supportive community of believers, *"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another"* (Prov. 27:17).
