When Adversity Comes...

The gospel truth is that life is not always a bed of roses. Difficult situation presents itself sometimes but there is need to be resilient at such times. However, the good news is that tough times don’t last but only tough people do. When the Master was about going back to His Father, He told His disciples that they would have troubles in this world but they should be cheerful because He has already overcome. “In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

Are you passing through any form of affliction or persecution? Friend, don’t bow down your head in despondency! Put on good smiles because you are coming out as a champion. Jesus Christ said He has overcome the world; it, therefore, means that you too are overcoming those challenges. In the Bible, Job was the most hit man in terms of afflictions, but his story was eventually rewritten as he recovered everything he lost and even had more. As a child of God, what should you do when adversity shows its ugly head? First, don’t lose your faith, courage and confidence in the Lord. The Psalmist, while passing through difficult times, wrote in Psalms 27:13 “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” This implies that, in the face of adversity, your heart must not faint. Don’t develop cold feet because the devil will attempt to weaken your faith in God and plant the seed of doubt. Just be encouraged in the Lord and believe Him who is able to turn your adversity into prosperity. Second, patiently wait on God and you will see Him move swiftly into your situation. David further encouraged himself in verse 14 of the same scripture “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait I say, on the Lord!” Third, in the process of waiting, engage yourself in prayers and meditate on the scriptures that address your challenges. As you pray, confess the word on daily basis and believe it for a testimony. Finally, always fill your mouth with songs and hymns of thanksgiving. Sing melodious songs to the Lord and watch Him bring unprecedented transformation into your life.

Every sinner is like a time bomb, waiting to explode anytime soon. The seeming ‘prosperity’ of the unrighteous can turn around to be his source of adversity. Accept Jesus Christ, the Prince of peace, and receive absolute peace like a river. God bless you richly. Happy New Month! PEACE
