Only One Life

Life is a gift God has given to everyone for a purpose. However, no matter how long a person lives on earth, it is nothing compared to the one to be spent in eternity. Apostle James compares the brevity of life to a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Although, life is transient, but it is too precious and valuable to live anyhow. Some people get so busy that they completely forget how short, fleeting and uncertain life is. Life has no guarantee of tomorrow, let alone next month or five years from now! One may be healthy in the morning, but may be dead by night. What a life? In addition, apart from being too brief, you have only one life to live and prepare for eternity. *“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”* (Heb. 9:27). Let me ask you, how have you chosen to live it? Are you living it in pursuit of power, pleasure, wealth, fame, and other ephemeral and mundane things at the expense of your soul? Do you get so ambitious that you do not have time for God? The way you live your life here on earth will determine where you will spend your eternity. Do not be deceived by those who think or say that there is no heaven or hell. They are deceiving people with their heresies and preparing them as potential candidates of hell. Jesus Christ Himself spent considerable time warning people about the reality and horror of hell, and the need to steer clear of it (Matt. 5:22-30). Beloved, I beseech you to live your life to please your Creator, because, only your stay with Him will be eternal. Every other thing is temporal. Listen to the advice of the Preacher: *“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them”* (Eccl. 12:1). The gospel truth is that nobody can tell exactly how much time he has left to live! God forbid, if your life ends now, are you sure of meeting with your Creator? If not, then make your way right with God today. Do not delay anymore because, a moment delay can lead you into an eternity of misery. It will be a tragedy to die without knowing Jesus. Confess your sins, accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour (2Cor. 6:2). If you are a backslidden Christian, you need to retrace your steps back to the Cross. Make God and His Kingdom a top priority in your life, and you will see Him come through for you. *“But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”* (Matt. 6:33).

Friend, the life you live is not really yours like you may be claiming. The owner of your soul has given you the opportunity to live, so make good use of every moment. One day, you will be requested to give account of how you spent your life while on this side of eternity.
