Attitude is defined as the way one thinks and feels about something or somebody, especially when it shows in the way one behaves. The definition shows that attitude begins subtly from the inward before manifesting on the outward. It starts with thinking, then feeling and later metamorphose into behaviour. In other words, it is not a single day affair but gradual in nature. Solitude means the state or situation of being alone; simply put, solitude means to be in isolation or seclusion.
During the COVID-19 pandemic that shook the whole world, many individuals and families compulsorily went into self-isolation to curb the spread of the deadly disease. There is need to imbibe the attitude of solitude for spiritual growth, restoration and rejuvenation that produces strength. God often has something to say or reveal to His children, but our inability to stay alone quietly is a major hindrance. The saints of old like Moses, Elijah, Abraham, Hannah, Joshua etc., enjoyed their walk with God in solitude. Moses received the call of God to be the deliverer of the Israelites from the Egyptian bondage, when he came to God’s mountain in solitude. *“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire …”* (Exodus 3:1-2). I am convinced that God must have directed Moses to the back side of the desert, so that He could speak to him and give him the task. Beloved, God wants to speak but it is quite unfortunate that many children of God are not positioning themselves to hear Him. Hannah had been going to Shiloh several years until that year she stayed behind in solitude that the Lord heard her cry and opened her womb. I pray that you will not miss your appointed day and time of visitation in Jesus name. Cultivate the attitude of solitude to get the best from God! The eagle derives its strength and power from solitude; as it stays alone on the mountain top, shedding off old feathers and waiting until new ones grow before it flies. Isaiah admonished us to wait upon God for renewal of spiritual strength for sustained progress (Isa. 40:31). God desires that every of His children will be like an eagle, which maximizes the power of solitude.
Friend, you are only qualified to stay in God’s presence if you genuinely know Him. You can enter into a relationship with Him today by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ, as your personal Lord and Saviour. Develop the attitude of solitude in His presence and continue to enjoy Him. *SHALOM*
