The Solid Rock

In a world that constantly shifts and changes, it is comforting to know that we have a foundation that never wavers - Christ, our solid Rock. Whether life feels like a raging storm or a boisterous wind, Jesus Christ remains our unshakable and dependable anchor.

Throughout the scripture, Christ is described as the rock - a symbol of strength, stability, and safety. Jesus Himself spoke about the importance of building on a solid foundation. In Matthew 7:24-25, He said, *“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”* Life can bring unexpected storms, for instance, job losses, health issues, relationship struggles, etc. When we are anchored in Christ, we may be tossed here and there for a while, but the storms will not topple us, and we shall be victorious at the end of the ordeal. Like the wise man in the parable- building our lives on the solid foundation of Jesus means that no matter what life throws at us, we should remain standing. The Bible often portrays God as the rock, not only for stability, but for protection. *“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge”* (Ps. 18:2). When the pressures of life feel overwhelming, Christ offers Himself as a place of safety and refuge where we can rest, knowing that He will shield us from the worst of the storms. In moments of fear, doubt, or uncertainty, we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus is immovable. He does not change, and His love for us is unwavering. No matter how chaotic things seem, He remains our secure and reliable Rock. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:4, *“They drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.”* This points back to the Old Testament times when God provided water from a rock to sustain the Israelites in the wilderness (Exo. 17). Just as the rock provided life-giving water, Christ offers us living water through salvation. When we accept Christ as our Saviour, we are standing on the firm foundation of His grace. His death and resurrection give us the assurance that our salvation is secure. Unlike the shifting sands of life, Jesus is a rock for every season. Whether we are celebrating, grieving, or waiting in uncertainty, He remains the unchangeable changer (Heb. 13:8). It is not easy to feel tossed around by the highs and lows of life, but we find peace in remembering that Jesus is our Rock. No matter what changes around us - people, circumstances, or even our own emotions - Christ remains steady.

Life can often feel unstable, like shifting sands beneath our feet. But when we place our trust in Christ, the solid Rock, we find stability, security, and peace. He is the foundation that never fails, the fortress that protects, and the unchanging anchor for our souls. When the storms of life come, remember that you are standing on the Rock. *“Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”* (Ps. 62:6). Trust in Him, and let Christ be your unshakable foundation. *SHALOM*
