Strength to Finish

The Christian journey is like a marathon race, which requires endurance and tenacity to run and finish well. An average athlete is usually tired and wearied, as s/he approaches the finishing line. The scripture says *“the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong …”* (Eccl. 9:11). Your speed, expertise and strength do not necessarily equate getting laurels in the spiritual race; you need God!

As the year 2023 is gradually winding down, you need divine strength to end the journey well. Starting a project is good, but finishing that project ceremoniously is better. Little wonder, the Bible says *“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof …”* (Eccl. 7:8). It does not matter how you started the year, what you need to develop is the spiritual muscle and stamina to complete the journey successfully. The beginning of the race of this year was good for some people, while others had challenges from the go. The perturbations of life have depleted the strength of many people, and they wonder how the year will end for them. I make bold to tell you that you need to daily draw strength from the Lord, if you want to finish the year with testimonies. Hear the testimony of David: *“For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God I have leaped over a wall”* (Ps. 18:29). A troop is a collection of soldiers, and running through them can never be a child’s play. How will one run in the midst of heavily armed soldiers, if not by divine strength? Beloved, you can still achieve the unthinkable and do the unimaginable, if you can rely on the strength from above. You have to deactivate your default setting of trust in your ability, and then count on God alone for enablement. Prophet Habakkuk had this declaration *“The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hind’s feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places”* (Hab. 3:19). The hind is a very fast-moving animal, which is naturally adapted to walking and running in a hilly terrain. Its feet are strengthened for such movement and it is full of strength to flee, especially from danger or predator. I pray for you today, that God will continually be your source of strength. He will strengthen your body, spirit and soul; He will make you to finish well. No carry over of good things for you and your household in Jesus mighty name.

Friend, you must be close to God in order to be able to draw strength from Him on a daily basis. You can only get close to him by accepting the Lordship of His dear Son, Jesus Christ. Don’t procrastinate today, if you are yet to give your life to Christ. God bless you richly. SHALOM.
