Spiritual Sensitivity

No doubt, the spiritual controls the physical and whatever is settled in the realm of the spirit manifests physically. Many blessings elude God’s children because they do not flow in the current of the Spirit. It is not an understatement that a lot of believers are either not in tune or at a low frequency with God’s Spirit. If God should open our eyes of understanding, there are so many things that will be revealed to us. A man that cannot see beyond the realm of the physical should not be expecting the miraculous!

The present day world is becoming sensitive and adopting several measures to curb the lingering security, health and cyber-crime challenges. However, the aspect of hearing directly from God is not given the deserving attention, even within the household of faith. The book of Genesis 28:11-12 captures the divine revelation shown to Jacob while he was on the run from his brother, Esau. The place of the all-night encounter never had a name until Jacob named it Bethel, after the dream. It was a place where God gave the assurance of being the Father to Abraham and Jacob; and promised him the place for a possession. God established the covenant of generational blessing with Jacob and gave him assurance of His presence and protection. Jacob quickly raised a stone as a memorial and entered into covenant with God. Having become sensitive to God’s presence in that place, he called it the house of God and the gate of heaven. In another account in the book of 1Kings 19:11-12; the mighty Prophet of God, Elijah, was also on the run from Jezebel when he experienced the manifest presence of God. He was oblivious of the manifestation of God as his mind was fixated on the physical signs (wind, earthquake and fire). However, God only spoke to him after he heard the small still voice. I marvel when some people develop nonchalant and lackadaisical attitude in the place of worship or prayer! Many divine visitations, appointments and blessings have been lost as a result of being insensitive to God. Be spiritually sensitive to the move of the Spirit whenever you are in His presence!

The scripture says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). In decision and choice-making, we need to be sensitive and be in tune with the Holy Spirit. Marital, business or career failures and regrets are avoidable if we are sensitive and yield to the dictates of the Spirit. You need to develop personal relationship with God and walk intimately with Him on a daily basis. May the Lord open your eyes of understanding. SHALOM
