Approval can be defined as the belief that something or somebody is good and acceptable based on certain criteria or quality standards. There are usually regulatory bodies or agencies placed in charge of giving approval or otherwise, of products and services. Similarly, God has infallible standards by which He measures man’s qualification for approval or otherwise. However, man’s approval can be sometimes subjective and prone to errors, while God’s approval cannot be faulted. *“Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity”* (2Tim. 2:19). As stated above, God’s solid foundation, with seal, is built on holiness and righteousness.
Apostle Paul, while admonishing Timothy, said *“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”* (2Tim. 2:15). The above scripture explains the basic requirements for divine approval. First, a Christian must be diligent to be approved of God. The word ‘diligence’ means careful and persistent work or effort. Getting divine approval is not a child’s play, but something which requires making spiritual effort. This involves persistent, consistent and conscious effort in studying and meditating on the word of God. Understanding God’s word and living in obedience to it helps a man to please God and secure His approval. On the Mount of Transfiguration, God the Father openly confirmed the approval of His Son, Jesus Christ. *“… and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”* (Matt. 17:5). Second, you need to present your body to God as a living sacrifice, which is holy and acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1). Anyone whose life is acceptable to God is automatically approved of Him. Your presentation to God matters a lot! How do you appear before your God? Do you come to Him casually or fully prepared with expectation? A Christian should be proudly holy and not ashamed of being a child of God anywhere and anytime. Which association do you keep? Watch the friendship you keep! If you want divine approval, you must not be ashamed to share the gospel of truth. As a Streetwise Apostle, make impact in the lives of sinners by telling them about Christ. Don’t keep quiet!
Friend, you must first be known by God before you can get His approval. If you are yet to be identified with Him, please do so now! Accept the Lordship of His dear Son, Jesus Christ. *PEACE*
