There is time and season for every matter on the surface of the earth. As Solomon clearly puts it, *“… there is a time to kill and a time to heal. There is a time to be born and a time to die”* (Eccl. 3:2-3). Let me put it in a simple and plain term, every season has a beginning and an end.
Times and seasons are unalterably fixed and determined by God, who created all things, although, events therein are dynamic. He directs the sun, the moon, the stars, the rain, etc., for His good pleasure, and nobody can alter His works. It is true that science and technology has evolved to a point of predicting and influencing the course of nature. However, God is unfathomable to the world of science, and His ways cannot be understood by technological probes. Life on earth is fleeting, transient and transitory; like a flower, it blooms this moment and suddenly fades away the next. *“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away”* (James 4:14). No man knows the day and time he will die! It is only God that can demand the soul of a man anytime, anywhere and anyhow. Knowing therefore, that every life on earth is finite, a wise person will anticipate and prepare for the end. It is non-negotiable and certain that death is inevitable. The life of every mortal man will come to an end at the time appointed by God. Nobody has the power to elongate his/her life, not even by a second; neither can somebody determine what happens to him/her the next moment.
When life is ended, every one of us shall give account of himself to God (Romans 14:12). The question now is if God wraps up your time here on earth today, are you ready to meet with your God? Is your life right with Him? Have you been living for God or for the vacuous vanities of life? Of what good is it if you gain the whole world, but die as a sinner? What will be your eternal hope or what account will you give when you face God’s judgement? If you are yet to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, do not hesitate to do so now. The gap between when you were in your mother’s womb and when you will be put in the tomb is full of times and seasons. What are you doing with the times and seasons at your disposal? Walk and partner with your God to make His purpose for your life come to pass. Do not waste these precious resources – times and seasons! Invest your life for God today and everyday!
Beloved, I pray that the Lord teaches you to number your days; so that you can apply your heart unto wisdom. God bless you richly.
