Streetwise Apostles - Part 3

Since the beginning of this month, we have been dwelling on the core mandate of this ministry which is to raise Streetwise Apostles. Last week, I stated that Streetwise Apostles are Ministers on the “highways of life” (Matt. 22:9), where others are solely engrossed in the business of pursuing their own personal agenda. Today, we shall start considering the 7 “highways” where the Streetwise Apostles operate. In other words, we want to highlight the duty posts of the Streetwise Apostles, since they are not restricted to the confines of the church building or organization.

The Lord Jesus brought 7 major blessings to the world through which He expects us to serve the Father. These are the avenues by which He expects the will of the Father to be done on earth. These 7 “highways of life” are stated in the book of Revelation 5:12 “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing”. He received all these, and handed them over to the church, but unfortunately, many of us are yet to have this revelation. This understanding is what makes a Streetwise Apostle to realize that we have more assignments out there in the world, than within the four corners of the church. The first is POWER. This refers to the arena of politics. The governance of people is central to creating the enabling environment for God’s will to thrive. Unfortunately, this has been dominated with people without the fear of God, who only exercise power for their own selfish means and to the detriment of the people, especially the people and counsel of God. God expects some of His apostles to operate in this arena because He wants those who rule over men to be just (2 Samuel 23:3). But only those who are called should venture into this. Martin Luther King Jnr. is a classical example of this. He changed the narratives in the American politics and paved way for Afro-American emancipation that resulted in the black man occupying the white house.

As I pause for now, while we continue next week, let me ask you- where are you located on these highways? Are you an effective ambassador on your duty post or you have joined them because you cannot beat them? Remember, God has expectation(s) of you, will you disappoint Him? And perhaps, you are on any of these highways, but has not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I want you to know that you are not fulfilling divine purpose irrespective of your personal benefits or gain, and it is time for you to come to the Lord! For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? God is calling you today, answer His call! To be continued. Shalom.
