“Then He said to His disciples, the harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38). “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’ (Mark 16:15). The greatest instruction or command given by Jesus Christ is premised on the power word ‘go!’
Every redeemed of the Lord is specifically instructed to go into all the world to preach the gospel to every creature. The target population are the lost souls, the unsaved, the backslidden, etc. This target population is scattered everywhere in the world. Soul winning is not only for those who have the ministerial calling such as Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, etc., as some Christian folks think. It is for all who have received the abundant life through the precious blood of Jesus. As children of God, we have been saved to rise for the salvation of sinners. The Bible says, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore, it is incumbent on all of us as this is the greatest work required by the Lord. Soul winning brings great joy and celebration to the host of heaven. Jesus speaking in John 6:44 says "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him...” Thus, it implies that it is only God who has the ability to convict sinners of their sins. We are only partners together with Him in the Kingdom business of soul winning. So, how do we partner or participate in this eternally rewarding enterprise? We can go to the field spiritually and physically in order to have a bountiful harvest. First is through consistent and targeted prayers. This is a very vital aspect of evangelism or soul winning that gives divine direction about who, when and where to reach out. Prayer also creates in us a deeper love, passion and compassion for the lost souls. As we pray, boldness wells up within us, and as we preach, we do so with great unction. Thus, it becomes an easy task for us and it is also profitable to the Kingdom of God. However, we must know that our prayers are not for ourselves alone but for the saints, including ministers, missionaries, pastors, etc., on the field of evangelism.
In Revelations 14:15, an Angel cried out saying “…Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” There is no more luxury of time at our disposal. Go to the field today and make bumper harvest for God! (To be contd.) SHALOM
