Peace is a condition of being in tranquility, serenity, placidity, calmness, quietness, stillness, etc. An individual, a community, society, or nation passing through turbulent situation cannot have peace. A state of sickness, poverty, disappointment, failure, fear etc., erode people of their peace. In fact, productivity, achievement, growth, development, etc., are hindered when there is no peace.
*“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm”* (Mark 4:39). The disciples of Jesus thought He was fast asleep, while they were in turbulence on the high sea. They went to wake Him where He was relaxing in the ship. Immediately and without a scintilla of trepidation, Jesus Christ rebuked the sea waves by declaring *“Peace, be still”*. Why did Jesus say ‘peace, be still’ instead of ‘sea, be calm’? Peace, be still reminds us that God has everything under His control, even in the most violent of storms. David understood that no matter what was happening around him, God was his refuge and strength (Ps. 46:10). With Him being our God, we can wait on Him, even amid chaos. Are you going through stormy situations? Have faith in God who has the power to still the storm. I stand under grace today, and hereby rebuke the storms in your life right now, in Jesus name!
Peace, be still is not a statement of negotiation, but that of command. As children of God, don’t negotiate with the devil on whatever is denying you peace of mind. Stand on the word of God and face the storm in the place of prayers. Continue to exercise spiritual authority, control and dominion over every antagonistic situation in your life. Always remember that you must protect your domain from all demonic attacks and incursions. Humble yourself before God who is the only One who can deliver you in chaotic time. *“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”* (James 4:7). The major enterprise of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy (Jn. 10:10). A notable thing he steals from his victims is their peace and joy! Don’t allow him to rob you of your peace, rise up and confront the enemy of your soul. The mission of Jesus Christ is to give you life in abundance, but He also gives you peace and rest from every trouble. *“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”* (Jn. 14:27). Enjoy your divine peace! I hereby terminate anything that is troubling the peace of your mind.
The greatest peace is the one found by accepting Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Saviour. He is the Prince of peace, and you need to know Him, so that you can enjoy an all-round peace. Shalom.
