Faith in Action

The best definition of faith is given in the book of Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The concept of faith is often considered as mysterious by many people. It is common to imagine whether faith is concrete or abstract. Faith is spiritually concrete and that is why the above scripture defines it as a substance with an evidence. However, you can only view faith with the eyes of the spirit. Why? It involves having high aspiration and expectation of a thing not seen physically. Therefore, faith is connected with hope and manifestation.

Perhaps, a simple analogy of faith in action is sitting on a chair with the assurance that you will not fall down because it will surely support your weight. With the agency or instrumentality of faith, the things that are seen were called out of the things not seen. ”By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of the things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3). Apart from Abraham, Abel, Noah, Enoch, Sarah etc., who did exploits by faith, other unknown Bible characters also received their miracles by faith. In fact, Jesus Christ had to commend some people for their demonstration of great faith. The Master made remarks like “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire” (Matt. 15:28). The truth is that we rarely receive from God because we don’t come to Him by faith. Beloved, faith is absolutely beyond mere confession, it only works by action. Therefore, I charge you to put your faith to work! God is interested in people who will not walk with Him by sight but by faith. The faith of Abraham was put to test when God asked him to sacrifice his only son. He responded by putting his faith to action by almost slaying Isaac, before God eventually intervened. The response of the Shunammite woman, who lost her only son, was ‘It is well’. She received her son back to life because she put her faith to action by taking the dead child to Elisha. Friend, how do you respond during trials, temptations and tribulations? Do you cry or put your faith to action?

Are you having expectations from God? Keep obeying and trusting Him by faith! If you are yet to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour; do so today, before it is too late. You can only be connected to the Father through His only Son. God bless you real good. SHALOM
