As this year 2024 draws to a close, it is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the ways God has shown His faithfulness in our lives. Whether it has been a year of triumph or travail (or a mix of both); one thing is certain- God has been with us every step of the way.
God’s faithfulness is woven into every season of our lives. *“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness”* (Lam. 3:22-23). Think about the moments this year when you felt God’s mercy renewed your hope. Maybe it was an answered prayer, unexpected provision, or the strength to keep going when you felt like giving up. These moments are reminders of His steadfast love and unchanging nature. Each day of the passing year, God has provided for us. It might have been through a job, a meal shared with loved ones, or the encouragement of a friend. Even in seasons of scarcity or uncertainty, God has been our provider. Take a moment to reflect on how He has met your needs this year, both big and small. Frankly speaking, this year may not have been easy or rosy. Yet, even in the hardest times, God’s faithfulness never wavered. Looking back, you might see how God carried you through challenges you thought you could not overcome. His faithfulness is not just seen in the good times; it is also noted in the way He strengthens us during the tough ones. Sharing how God has been faithful to us is one of the best ways to encourage others. The Psalmist says: *“O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name: make known His deeds among the people”* (Ps. 105:1). What is that moment this year where God’s faithfulness was evident in your life? Share it with someone – a friend, a family member, or even a stranger. As we are about to step into a new year, we can face the future with confidence because God’s faithfulness is unending. The same God who carried us through this year, will walk with us into the next in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Regardless of what lies ahead, we can trust that His faithfulness will remain our anchor. When we remember how He has been faithful in the past, it builds our faith for the future. As we reflect on the past year, let us give thanks for His unchanging love, and look forward to what He will do in the days ahead.
Take a moment to pause and thank God for His faithfulness. Write down one way He showed up for you this year, and carry that memory as a reminder that He is always with you. *“O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever”* (Ps. 107:1).
