From Grass to Grace

When God decides to promote or bless a man; his family background, educational status or social class does not matter to Him. In our contemporary times, many people have legitimately risen from zero to zenith and from penury to prosperity. The fact is that nobody can singlehandedly raise himself or herself, s/he needs the input of others. However, the God-factor in promoting man cannot be undermined. Interestingly, He is still in the business of raising man from grass to grace! *“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and He has set the world upon them”* (1Samuel 2:8). *

God raises a man basically for the purpose of changing his status and level. It is also noteworthy that God raises a man for another man to be raised! This can take the form of mentorship, friendship, partnership, etc. Mordecai was the man raised by God to be instrumental to the raising of Esther, an ordinary orphan, who eventually became the Queen in the Citadel of Shushan. He was the divinely appointed destiny agent or destiny helper to her. Esther did not just become a queen overnight, she humbly submitted herself to the tutelage and guidance of her uncle, Mordecai. She simply obeyed his instructions, precept upon precept and line by line. *“Now Esther had not revealed her family and her people, just as Mordecai had charged her, for Esther obeyed the command of Mordecai as when she was brought up by him”* (Esther 2:20). Esther did not allow the affluence of the palace to impede her relationship with Mordecai throughout a year of preparation for queenship. In addition, she was also obedient to Hegai, king Ahasuerus’ Eunuch and the custodian of the women. Her act of obedience to instructions and advice earned her favour in the sight of all who saw her (Esther 2:15). How obedient are you to instructions from your parents, guardian, pastor or unit leader? Esther was celebrated by the king to the point of making a great feast in her name, the Feast of Esther. The king also proclaimed a holiday in the provinces and gave gifts according to his generousity (Esther 2:18). If you can follow the process, you too can rise from grass to grace and eventually become a celebrity. Beloved, you cannot circumvent the principle of divine promotion.

*“For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He puts down one, and sets up another”* (Psalms 75:6-7). Friend, you need to be identified with God who promotes and be passionately committed to obeying Him. *SHALOM*
