A Fresh Start

The beginning of every New Year presents a fresh opportunity to start afresh, dream big, and move closer to God. It is a time to let go of what lies behind, and press forward into the life God has planned for us. The Bible is replete with reminders of God’s grace for fresh starts.

*“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”* (Lam. 3:22-23). Beginning a new year on a clean slate is very vital. Sometimes, we carry the weight of regrets, failures, and missed opportunities of the past year. But God offers a promise in Isaiah 43:18-19 *“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?*” Last year has become a waste paper and this year is the newspaper; focus on the news! Letting go of the past frees us to step into the new blessings God has for us. A great way to embrace a new beginning is by deepening your walk with God. In this year, commit yourself to spending more time in His Word and in prayer. David assures us in Psalms 37:23-24 that *“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”* As you plan for this New Year, it is expedient to seek God’s direction, surrender your plans to Him and trust in His guidance. *“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight”* (Prov. 3:5-6). Set spiritual goals that align with His purpose, will and way for your life. These goals may include dedicating quality time to prayer, reading a chapter of the Bible daily, commitment to attending mid-week services, or joining a small group for fellowship and service. It is imperative to note that seemingly small, but consistent steps can lead to lasting change. In this year, live a life of separation, sanctification and consecration unto God more than ever before. Let us heed the admonition of Apostle Paul: *“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”* (Rom. 12:2). As you continue in the journey of 2025, remember that God is the author of fresh start. Trust Him to guide you into a year filled with growth, joy, and purpose. Beloved, I encourage you to look above where your help will come from. Do not look in the direction of men, because vain is the help of man!

Friend, if you are yet to know God, surrender your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ today. The year is still new and fresh to amend your ways before your maker. Let Him write the story of your new beginning. He will surely give us a new but glorious start in *2025*. God bless you. *SHALOM*
