According to Oxford dictionaries, impact means having a strong effect on someone or something. It can be further explained with the following clauses ‘exert influence’, ‘make an impression’ etc. There is a popular axiom that says “you cannot give what you don’t have.” Life is not about what you can take but it is governed by what you are able to give! As brief as the lifetime of grasses is, by divine provision, they have great impact on the ecosystem. Matthew 6:30 says “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, …”. Yet, plants are the natural oxygen suppliers and sustainers of the living beings on the planet earth.
Making impact is about discovering and understanding purpose and fulfilling it. What is your purpose in the race of life? Have you discovered it? If yes, are you pursuing it in a way that impact positively on others? You don’t make impact by focusing only on yourself. Myles Munroe of blessed memory said “When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” The fact is that you will be making a lot of impact when you realize what you ought to stand for. You will easily fall for anything if you don’t stand for something! All the people- christians and non-christians, who had major breakthroughs in life stood for a purpose. They were able to touch people’s lives because they knew why they were here on earth. Between the period of coming out of the womb and going down to the tomb is your lifetime. What will you be remembered for after leaving this world? In ministry, politics, education, economy, technology etc., there are icons who made their imprints on the sand of time. Friend, may I tell you that there are many people who need you to impact their lives. “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” (Romans 8:19). God is a shrewd capitalist who endows man with resources in order to make impact. You put Him on display, each time you make indelible impact through His endowment. Thus, He does not like people who are clueless or purposeless. Remember the biblical story of the unprofitable servant. Catch your vision and purpose today and run with it!
Beloved, you cannot make any lasting impact if you are not connected to God, the source of life. Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ today and experience amazing turn around in your life. Welcome to the month of April and happy Easter! (To be contd.) SHALOM.
