Spiritual warfare is an invisible battle with a visible result. It can only be won by submitting totally to the leading of the Holy Spirit. “Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). Submission to God is very key to fighting and winning such battle. Why do you need to submit to God before you can resist the devil to flee? When you submit to God, you are surrendering the battle to Him as the ONLY ONE who can protect you and defeat the enemy.
Spiritual warfare continually takes place around us in the world. In fact, as we approach the end of the age, the warfare is fast becoming fiercer. Little wonder, Apostle Peter says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1Peter 5:8). As a Christian, you are part of God’s army called to defeat satan and his evil forces. Every genuinely born-again child of God is qualified to engage in spiritual warfare. However, it must be understood that attacking the devil does not require physical agility or power. The Bible says “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). There are spiritual strategies and weapons of warfare needed to be employed in the fight against the hierarchies of spiritual power. The first strategy is the word of God. The word of God is very quick, potent and powerful (Hebrews 4:12) and God does not renege on His word. Since God has exalted His word above His name, it means His word is a legal tender anywhere and anytime! Employ the word of God to face the devil. Jesus Christ also did the same when satan came to tempt Him. The second strategy is the blood of Jesus which is called the blood of the Lamb in Revelations 12:11. The devil cannot withstand the sight or mention of the blood of Jesus. Appropriate the blood of Jesus when the battle seems tough and see the amazing result. The third strategy is the word of testimony, which emanates from your confession. Think of the victories of the past which the Lord has given you and mention them to the hearing of the devil. The fourth strategy is to constantly put on the full armour of God (Ephesians 6:10).
Beloved, as you apply the aforementioned strategies, discard fear, but trust and have faith in God and live righteously. Are you fully armed for this warfare? Always remember that by arms of flesh shall no man prevail. God bless you. SHALOM
