Building any structure is a process which requires adequate plan, supervision and monitoring. It is expected that the builder must have some level of expertise. In addition, materials of construction, type of structure, cost implication, site location etc., are among factors to be considered by a good builder. It is really a thoughtful and rigorous process!
Like physical structures, building a home also requires well thought out and careful planning. It is not an understatement that the woman has vital and predominant roles to play in the home building process. The scripture says *“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands”* (Prov. 14:1). A good home is not built by level of education, social status, affluence, etc. Wisdom is very key to home building, and it is a necessity for every woman whose home will stand the test of time. It takes wisdom for a woman to establish a healthy and Godly relationship with her husband and children. A woman requires wisdom in defending her home against external assaults and internal strife. Wisdom is essential for interpersonal relationship with extended family members, in-laws and friends. Building a good home begins with wisdom, while it is established by understanding. *“Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established”* (Prov. 24:3). The marriage of a man and a woman marks the commencement of the home building process. A wise woman, by wisdom, builds her home like the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. *“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies”* (Prov. 31:10). Virtues, required for home building, are embedded in wisdom; and every woman must seek for such. Furthermore, home building entails knowing God and honouring Him. The scripture says the virtuous woman opens her mouth with wisdom; and she fears the Lord. A wise woman places God first in her home, submits to her husband and trains her children in the way of the Lord. The woman builds her home with the word of God and defends it with prayers. She contributes to the physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological wellbeing of her home. She does not fail in her conjugal duties to her husband, showing love and taking care of him and the children. The woman builds her home by supporting her husband in actualizing his goals and potentials.
Every home that is not built on the foundation of Christ is exposed to the attack of the devil. May God revive every home that is in distress or at the verge of collapse in Jesus mighty name. Congratulations and Happy Women’s Conference to the Cedar Women’s Fellowship. *SHALOM*
