Welcome to the last and 52nd Sunday in the month of December 2022, which also coincides with Christmas. Can you please ponder and reflect on many people that we began the race of the year together but are nowhere to be found today? The truth is that you are neither holier nor more righteous than they were. You will then quite agree with me that it is by the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, simple! He has been gracious towards us in His tender mercies and loving kindness. May His name be praised now and forever.
In the book of John 10:9, Jesus Christ declared Himself as the door. “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture”. In verse 10, He revealed His mission as against the devil’s. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”. The three-fold mission of the thief (the devil) was described as stealing, killing and destroying. Meanwhile, the mission of Jesus Christ is singularly summarized as giving abundant and eternal life. Over two thousand years ago, Jesus left His glory in heaven and came to the earth to die for the sins of the world. He came in human form and His birth was emblematic of humility and simplicity. By the love of God to man, the door of life was opened for all to come in. Unfortunately, only few people are entering through the door of life, while many are entering through the other doors. Jesus Christ Himself affirmed this when He said “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). Friend, let me ask you ‘have you found the door of life and entered therein?’ The door or gate that leads to life is the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. He is beckoning on you today to enter into Him and have everlasting life in abundance. Jesus said in the book of John 14:6 “… I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”. Beloved, the only access to reach God is Jesus Christ!
As we count days to the end of this year, I beseech you to determine to be intimate with the door of life. I mean be identified with Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour to enjoy life to the fullest. May God bless, keep and preserve you to see the year 2023 and beyond. Merry Christmas! Wishing you, your family and the entire household of Cedar a Happy New Year in advance. SHALOM
