Unlike man, it is never in the nature of God to forget His creatures or whatever He has promised. In Psalms 8:4, king David rhetorically asked about why man is so endearing to God that He remembers him. “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” The gospel truth is that God neither forgets nor forsakes His own children! However, God is fascinated by certain things which bring believers into perpetual remembrance before Him.
First, God delights in and remembers offerings and sacrifices willingly rendered to Him out of a sincere heart. Little wonder, David prayed about it in Psalms 20:3 “May He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice.” I must say that offering is not necessarily money or other material things. You can cultivate a habit of giving regular praise and thanksgiving offering unto God. Your commitment of time, talents, skills, etc., unto the Kingdom assignments can serve as offering/sacrifice. David said he would not offer to the Lord burnt offerings which cost him nothing (2Samuel 24:24). What significant things have you offered unto God that can make Him remember you? Second, God always remembers His tender mercies and loving kindness. No man is qualified to be remembered by God, but for His enduring, loving and merciful kindness. “It is through the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not” (Lamentations 3:22). Therefore, it is by God’s prerogative of showing you His mercy that He remembers you. Third, God forever remembers His covenant made to generations (Psalms 105:8). Covenant is very important to God that He does not renege on His agreement with any individual or nation. With the blood of a year old lamb, He entered into a covenant of preservation with the Israelites while in the land of Egypt. He remembered His blood covenant as the angel of destruction spared the people of Israel. Lastly, God remembers one’s good deeds. Nehemiah prayed to God to remember him and not wipe away his good deeds and services in the house of God (Nehemiah 13:14). Do you have any good deeds that can speak for your remembrance before God?
Beloved, you must first know God before you can be remembered by Him. If you have not surrendered your life to the Lordship of His dear Son, this is an opportunity to do so. If you are already a child of God, walk in the covenant, give to God sacrificially and be good in your deeds. In this year, God will remember you for good and answer your requests. Happy New Month.
